간혹 선박의 경로 또는 현재 위치가 바다 위가 아닌 육지 위에 표시되는 경우가 있습니다. 이는 대부분 AIS(자동식별시스템) 데이터의 일시적인 오류로 인해 발생하며, 저희는 이러한 현상을 데이터 스플래싱(Data Splashing)이라고 부릅니다.
왜 이런 현상이 발생하나요?
AIS 데이터는 선박이 위성 또는 해안 수신기를 통해 송신하는 위치 정보입니다. 그러나 다음과 같은 이유로 인해 오류가 발생할 수 있습니다:

신호 간섭, 지연 또는 오탐지로 인한 잘못된 좌표 수신
•
위성과 해안 수신기 간의 신호 중첩
•
선박 위치가 빠르게 갱신되며, 시스템이 경로를 잘못 보간하는 경우
•
AIS 송신기가 잘못된 GPS 정보를 전송하는 경우
이러한 이유로 선박이 갑자기 육지로 "점프"하거나 비정상적인 경로를 표시할 수 있습니다.

Why is the ship’s navigation displayed on land?
In rare cases, you may notice a vessel’s route or current position appearing on land instead of at sea. This usually stems from inconsistencies or anomalies in AIS (Automatic Identification System) data, which we refer to as data splashing.
Why does this happen?
AIS data is transmitted by ships through radio signals and collected via satellites or coastal receivers. However, due to signal interference, latency, or errors in transmission or relay, the reported coordinates may momentarily become inaccurate. When this happens, ships may appear to "jump" onto land or follow a distorted path.
This issue can also occur:

When AIS signals bounce between satellite and terrestrial receivers
•
During rapid position updates that cause the system to interpolate inaccurately
•
If a ship’s AIS transponder is misconfigured or sending incorrect GPS data
What to do if you notice this?
If you observe a vessel navigating over land or displaying an unusual route:

Please share the ship’s name or IMO number
•
Optionally, include a screenshot or timestamp for quicker investigation
