[Enterprise Support] UX/UI Expert

Please introduce yourself.

Hi, I’m Hyein Lee, a UXUI Expert at SeaVantage.
I focus on shaping how our services are visually and functionally presented to users, turning complex logistics processes into intuitive, easy-to-use screens.

What brought you to join SeaVantage?

I came across SeaVantage by chance while looking through design job postings.
At the time, I didn’t know much about logistics, it was not field I would thought deeply about. But the job description made me pause and reflect “Why do transportation arrive late?”, “Why do packages get delated?”, “Why do my online shopping orders sometimes take so long?”
Those questions made me realize how closely logistics is tied to our everyday lives.
I was drawn to the idea that these “delays” are actually real problems for people, ahd that there’s a team out there trying to solve them, not just through technology but by delivering solutions that make sense to real users. That’s when I realised thererwas something meaningful I could contribute.

What do you do at SeaVantage?

I design and plan the overall UX flow and handle UI designs at the screen level.
Whenever we build a new service or feature, I define the core functions it needs and map out the structure from end to end.
Most of the work is done in Figma, from wireframes to flowcharts.
I also manage and continuously update the SeaVantage Design System, helping ensure a cohesive and consistent experience across the entire product.

What’s the team culture like?

The vibe is flat and fun. We collaborate openly and frequently. It’s common for us to jump into a Figma file together during a meeting, bouncing ideas back and forth.
Sometimes ideas that I wouldn’t have come up with on my own emerge naturally through conversation. It’s in those moments that I really feel the power of collaboration.

What values matter most in team collaboration?

For me, the most important thing is sharing context through a common language.
In a specialised field like logistics, if I only explain things from a designer’s perspective, communication breaks down quickly. For instance, a layout or button placement may seem obvious to a designer, but others — like engineers or sales team members, may not see it the same way.
That’s why I try not to say things like “this looks better” or “this is good UX.” Instead, I explain design choices by putting myself in the user’s shoes: “Here’s what the user is probably experiencing,” or “This flow helps avoid confusion in this specific situation.”
The more we communicate like this, the more aligned we become, not just in what we're doing, but in how we understand the problem.

Where do you see yourself a year from now?

I hope to grow into a more strategic designer, someone who doesn’t just create beautiful interfaces, but can define and interpret the core problems that need solving.
I want to be the kind of designer who confidently asks, “Why do we need this feature?”
And who can turn that answer into a thoughtful solution — both for the user and the business.

Any message for those interested in joining SeaVantage?

Don’t worry if the domain feels unfamiliar at first.
There are many people here who are passionate about ships and maritime logistics, and the environment naturally helps you learn as you work.
Most importantly, if you have a user-centered mindset and a passion for solving problems, you’ll be able to thrive and make a real impact as a designer.
We’re always looking for teammates to grow and problem-solve together.
